International Cooperation Division of Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board (SLAEB) functions as the National Liaison Office to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which is widely known as the world’s “Atoms for Peace” organization within the United Nations family. For almost six decades, the International Atomic Energy Agency has pursued the goal of making nuclear science and technology available to its Member States in a safe, secure and peaceful manner. The IAEA delivers its technical assistance to the Member States under its technical cooperation programme and International Cooperation Division of SALEB coordinates all activities with IAEA in order to obtain such assistance. This Division also coordinates activities with other international organizations such as Regional Cooperative Agreement Regional Office (RCARO) located in South Korea, Institutes functioning under Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan, International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) etc. to obtain technical assistance to enhance infrastructure facilities and human resources development needed to utilize peaceful uses of nuclear technology in the Country.
Through the IAEA Technical Cooperation Division, International Cooperation helps to sustainable socioeconomic development in the secure, safe and peaceful use of Nuclear Science and Technology by following programme.
